My Skills Audit

To improve my skills I need to be able to lead people and be able to speak confidently in front of people when I am presenting work or showing ideas. Also to work on my spelling and punctuation throughout my work, so that it comes across more professional and manage my time efficiently, so that I can meet deadlines on time. I try hard to be organised and to be on time as well as working productively on the task at hand. I would like to improve the skills I have as well as skills that are weaker, this will help me in the future, when I come to get a job in my chosen interest. I feel my skills have developed more since my first year and I am now more confident overall with my work. In the future I would like to aim to get distinctions or higher in my second year of Fashion and Textiles and then hopefully go onto the third year at Cardiff University. In the future I would like to work in the fashion industry preferably designing and creating clothes or possibly working for someone else, but eventually working for myself possibly if I can. I am also interested in print work and textiles and would like to someday work in an industry that would combine the two of them together for a job. I am in my first year of my HNC course doing fashion and textiles. I enjoy working with everyone in the class, I also work really on my own but also in a team. I may not be very confident with presenting my work or ideas but I like to listen to others to help generate new ideas and try to voice some of my own opinions. I like to try new things and experiment with different work, doing more textile and different print techniques this year has helped me realise what I would like to do for a future job. I take part in my neighbourhood community council. Where I am able to do fundraising for my community and help the environment. I have learnt to strengthen my skills through working on the community council as I am able to plan events, raise money and work with others to do so. The skills I need to do this are very much similar to the ones I use in my work. I have had a range of different jobs over the years from customer service assistant, personal assistant to waitress/bar staff. In all of these jobs I have had to use the relevant skills to be able to work. I use these skills most when helping customers or working with other members of staff in the work place. I like working with other and think that having a job where you work with others would be what I wanted. Having these skills will help me in the future when it ones to getting a job, as most places will prefer you to have previous experience in work.
