For the Johnsey project I was to create three textile pieces based on inspiration from the Johnsey Estate. My pieces were based on the pictures above, I wanted to create a crumbling wall look with wires coming out of it, this is to show that over time the wall has been abandoned and has started to decay. I achieved this look by step by step process, that is pictured above, where I have used layers to build up my textile piece. I started off by inking my back ground, then moved onto layers of organsa that were burnt away. I used printed tyvek to create the crumbling effect, then added gold and copper leaf to the top to show the decaying colours of the pipes. I finished it off with coloured wires on top, to show the wires coming out of the wall that they should of been in, if the building hadn’t been abandoned. I feel like I did everything the client asked for when creating these textile pieces, I created three different pieces that worked together and created a continued effect.
