For my final FMP project I have created patterns and designs based around sustainability. I started off by researching designers who used sustainable fabrics like Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney. I then looked into eco friendly dye and sustainable and recycled fabrics. I wanted to focus mostly on knitting, so I decided to turn my knitting into a pattern. I took the leaf shape and added it in as I wanted to have that element of eco friendly in my design. When looking for wool, I wanted to use wool that had colours that were in trend. From this I created the pattern above and changed the colours to give them an earthy feel. I then designed garments with lots of rounded loops in them, to represent the loops in the wool when it is knitted. I think this pattern is very effective and stands out really well, I love how the colours go together and the leaf is in different colours but the pattern matches.
